OUR STORY
The current Chirco's Pizza at Clayton and Baxter in West County opened its doors in May of 2022 to rave reviews for our thin and crispy St. Louis style pizza!
But our story begins much earlier with my dad, Mr. Pete.
Born in Cinisi, Sicily in 1938, Mr. Pete immigrated to the United States at the age of 20. He worked in the plaster business, but knew there had to be a better way to support his family.
When he visited his friend Aldo in Washington, MO and saw Aldo’s carryout-only pizzeria with a line around the building, he knew what he had to do. The next day, he drove around St. Louis until he found a location. He signed the lease, bought the equipment and was ready to open his first pizzeria by the following Tuesday.
There was only one problem: Mr. Pete had never made a pizza before.
Chirco's Italian Restaurant was a West County favorite from 1979-2005!
Undeterred, he called his new friend Aldo to teach him. Aldo agreed, taught him that weekend, and the rest is history!
In 1979, my dad and his brother, Andy, purchased Francesco’s in a small shopping center at the corner of Baxter and Clayton and changed the name to Chirco’s Italian Restaurant. The original Chirco’s location was a popular West County favorite for over 25 years until it closed in 2005.

I've been in the restaurant business for almost 4 decades, first working with my dad and later operating restaurants of my own. At Chirco's Pizza, I'm excited to bring back the classics, plus new menu items with a modern twist.
We're serving the same thin and crispy St. Louis style pizzas, Chirco's house dressing and traditional family recipes that our customers have loved for years.
As always, Chirco's is a locally owned, family business. You'll find my sister, Josephine, working alongside me in the restaurant daily, and the next generation of Chirco's (my teenagers) work with us, too.
